RoamRight Essential Travel Insurance Coverage & Plan Details
What types of plans are available for trip insurance?
There are many travel or trip insurance plans that could meet your needs, depending on what your trip involves. RoamRight provides trip cancellation, trip interruption and/or travel medical insurance for single trips or annual plans, whether you’re traveling domestically or planning an around-the-world travel adventure. Before selecting a travel insurance plan, you will need to gather important details about your trip so you can accurately compare plans.
What is a pre-existing condition?
The official definition of a pre-existing condition is: Any Injury, Sickness or condition of You, a Traveling Companion or Your and/or Your Traveling Companion’s Family Member for which medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment was recommended or received within the 180-day period ending on the Effective Date. Sicknesses or conditions are not considered pre-existing if the Sickness or condition for which prescribed drugs or medicine is taken remains controlled without any change in the required prescription. In essence, a pre-existing condition exists when medical care or treatment has been required within the past six months. A pre-existing condition is controlled if no change in medication has been prescribed during the past six months. For example, high blood pressure may be considered a controlled pre-existing condition if the patient has not had a change in medication or its dosage within the past six months.
Can I get cover if I have a pre-existing condition?
Yes. While most plans have exclusions for pre-existing conditions, this can be waived if the plan is purchased within 21 days of making the initial trip deposit. This is available for the following RoamRight plans: Elite, Preferred, Essential. So if you’re going on a trip, don’t procrastinate in purchasing your travel insurance!

A cancellation of Your Trip if Your arrival on the Trip is delayed and causes You to lose 50% or more of the scheduled Trip duration due to the reasons covered under the Trip Delay benefit.
How does this work with my primary medical insurance?
RoamRight travel insurance serves as secondary insurance to your primary medical insurance. However, if necessary, RoamRight can act as your primary insurance. For example, if you are on an international trip and your primary medical insurance will not pay directly to a foreign medical provider, RoamRight can pay the foreign provider, preventing you from having to pay out of pocket. Your primary medical insurance will then reimburse us.

Yes, as long as you include the airline’s redeposit fees in your Trip Cost when you obtain your quote.
Does RoamRight cover medical tourism?
Travelers should note that the travel medical insurance is not the same as “medical tourism insurance” – where a person leaves his/her home country to obtain medical treatment for a pre-existing elective or needed procedure. Rather, our travel medical insurance benefits focus on protecting you from unexpected medical emergencies domestically or worldwide during the course of travel.
As always, at AARDY we recommend that a traveler consider travel insurance. You can get an anonymous quote in seconds, and compare dozens of the top travel plans from many of the largest US travel insurers, saving you time and money finding the right travel plan for your needs.
What many people do not know is that they won’t find the same trip insurance plans available at a better price – all down to price certainty anti-discriminatory law in the US.
Travel Insurance Comparison – Will I Pay More Buying Travel Insurance from a Comparison Website?
In short – a trip insurance quote for an insurance plan that you see from AARDY is the same price you would see from the insurance carrier direct – we are not allowed to compete on price for ‘filed’ insurance products. No one is. You are certain to get best value from us.
